RINGHALS Ringhals nuclear power plant is the largest power plant in Scandinavia. We are situated on the west coast of Sweden, 60 kilometers south of Göteborg. Ringhals produces some 25 billion kilowatt-hours of energy in a normal year. That is approximately 18% of Sweden's total electrical power consumption. Since 1999, Ringhals AB has been an independent company and is now owned by Vattenfall AB (74.2%) and Sydkraft AB (25.8%). Annual turnover is approximately 4 billion SEK and the number of people employed 1 100. A GOALART PROJECT WITH RINGHALS In 2002, GoalArt performed a project with Barsebäck, Oskarshamn, Ringhals, and IFE Halden. Root cause analysis and state-based alarm priority were succesfully tested and evaluated. From 2005, GoalArt is a subcontractor to IFE Halden in a joint research project with Forsmark, Oskarshamn, and Ringhals in Sweden, and Loviisa and Olkiluoto in Finland. This project aims at full-scale implementation of root cause analysis and state-based alarm priority for the Hambo simulator, which is based on the Forsmark 3 unit. Modeling and software integration will be finished in the summer of 2006, followed by HMI design and user tests with operator crews from all participating plants in 2006-2007.
